Topic: "Who Do You Believe
Is Your Role Model and Why Did You Choose That Person?"
1.
Students of all schools
in the State of Missouri, public and
private, are eligible to participate. Essays must be no more than 500 words and
may be handwritten or typed. Judging will be based upon content, thought,
grammar, spelling and neatness.
2.
All essays must have a
face sheet of plain white paper with the student’s name, address, school and
grade. Place the District Deputy’s name and number on state entries in order to
assure proper return notification. Social Security numbers will not be
required. State winners will be asked for their numbers at the time of ordering
of the winners’ bonds.
3.
All entries must be
submitted to the local council for judging in all four categories and only the
winner in each category is to be submitted to the state from the council. No
more than the top essay in each category is to be submitted.
4.
There will be one first
and second place winner in each of the four groups with a $100.00 U.S. Savings
Bond for the first place winner in each group and a $75.00 U.S. Savings Bond to
the second place winner of each group. Plaques will be presented to the winning
state contestants. All participants who make it to the state level will receive
a state certificate. It is suggested that councils also provide awards for
local winners to be presented at an awards night.
5.
The winning entry in
each category along with an official entry card must be sent to the State
Chairman at the following address by
February 28, 2008.
