Henryville, Indiana Tornado

Written by Brad Grill. Posted in State Program Director Blog

Brother Knights,

Recently, I was forwarded an email from Grand Knight Tim Baltz of Council #9269 regarding the recent Henryville, Indiana tornado disaster. Grand Knight Baltz was raised in Pocahontas, Arkansas and a number of his relatives in northern Arkansas and southern Missouri actively assisted in aiding the residents of Joplin after the Joplin disaster. Henryville was decimated like Joplin and Knights throughout the area, as they did in Joplin, are responding. The website address of St. Francis Xavier in Henryville, Indiana is www.stmichaelstfrancis.com. There is additional information on the website as to the tornado, including the opportunity to donate to the victims of the tornado in Henryville, Indiana.

Each year at the annual State Convention of the Missouri Knights of Columbus, the State Council recognizes, since the last State Convention, those service programs which are outstanding and are to be recognized by the Order as a whole. The current categories include Church, Community, Council, Family, Pro-Life and Youth. To enter a service program, please complete the State Council Service Program Awards Entry Form (#STSP) available at www.kofc.org/forms. A separate form should be used for each program submitted. The completed forms are not to be sent to the Supreme Council office, but are to be forwarded to either myself as State Program Director or State Deputy, John Appelbaum. There are tips in preparing your Council’s Service Program Awards entries on the Supreme website. The six service programs recognized at the State Convention are then forwarded to the Supreme Council office where ultimately a program is selected from each category throughout the Order for recognition. Also it should be noted at our annual State Convention the Councils recognized in each of the six categories will receive a plaque provided by Supreme which a Council would be proud to display. Please consider submitting an entry form for your Council to be a recipient of a State Council Service Program Award on or before March 31, 2012. My mailing address is 5555 NW Barry Road, Suite A, Kansas City, Missouri 64154.

Your cooperation in this matter would be greatly appreciated and this is one of the ways we show throughout the Order the quality of Service Programs being offered here in the Great State of Missouri.
