Welcome (Council Activities)

Written by Jeff Slama. Posted in Welcome

Council Activities cover a wide range of endeavors to enhance members' enjoyment of being a member of the Knights of Columbus. This can also provide opportunities for members to grow as Knights by becoming more familiar with the history of the Order and working of the Council.

Council Programming goes beyond conducting the required meetings ... beyond the minimum action to sustain a Council. Grand Knights and Program Directors should look beyond the forms, reports and various tasks that consume most of their time and focus on providing a fraternal atmosphere to generate and promote the health of the council itself and its membership.

Fraternity - Athletic events are a tremendous manner in which to bring brother knights from around our great state together. When we do so, not only do we participate in a bowling, horseshoes, softball or golf tournament or even the sporting clay/trap shoot, we celebrate a multitude of the blessings we have in our lives, and display the founding principles and virtues of the Knights of Columbus. Our athletic events also provide the opportunity to mingle and enjoy the company of brother knights and their spouses, families, and friends. Even if you are not the athletic type, there are many associated activities, such as Mass, banquets, socials, and more, that are op~n to all who wish to attend.

Unity - The unity displayed at our athletic events is very evident in our church and communities. By being a part of one of these great events, we gain in unity with one another fraternally and spiritually.  My brothers, I ask you to consider attending, participating, or volunteering to be a part of our upcoming athletic events.

Council Activities has a lot to offer each Council across the State. This not only include the athletic events but also includes Fraternal Recognition, Ladies Auxiliaries, PublicitylNewsletters, MO KoC History, Clown Clubs, MARINER, the Father McGivney Guild, our State Web-Site and Communications/Technol.ogy just to name a few. S.ome of the activities of the Knights of Columbus sound demanding and certainly many are but that does n.ot mean that others can't be there just for the fun. Our mission is quite simple. We want to strengthen the fraternal bond of brotherhood that comes with being a member of the Knights of Columbus and create awareness of the various Council activities available for council participation throughout the State both at the State and Council levels.
