Catholic Home Study Service

FrHoyeCatholic Home Study Service (CHSS), sponsored by the Missouri Knights of Columbus Religious Information Bureau, has been offering free courses on the Catholic Faith for more than seventy years. They help others gain a clearer knowlegde of Catholicism as a step toward becoming Catholic, or just to learn what we believe.

It is located on the campus of Saint Mary's of the Barrens, in Perryville, Missouri.

A new Director of the Catholic Home Study Service has been named, and it is Fr. Ronald J. Hoye, C.M.

Fr. Hoye grew up in a farming community near St. Louis, MO and was greatly influenced by his mom (a nurse) and dad (a surgeon) whose lives were about helping and caring for others. Fr. Ron chose a similar path and was ordained a priest in the Congregation of the Mission of St. Vincent DePaul in 1991.

Fr. Hoye holds a B.S. in Philosophy and two Masters Degrees—in Theology and Ethics. He has been heavily involved in youth activities and programs both domestically and internationally. He co-founded the Association of Vincentian Marian Youth in the United States and founded an international program of Young Adult Service Outreach. He served on the National Board of the Religious Vocation Conference while involved in campus life at DePaul University in Chicago, where he also taught Business Ethics and World Religions.

Currently, Fr. Hoye is involved in Leadership and Evangelization Outreach for his province as both the director of the Catholic Home Study ministry and leading Vincentian Parish Missions at Catholic churches throughout the United States and Canada. Fr. Ron enjoys the outdoors where he is oftentimes seen hiking and biking.
