MEET LIFE CAMPAIGN

A Joint Initiative of the Missouri Knights of Columbus, Vitae Foundation, In His Image Ultrasound, and local pregnancy resource centers to Reduce Missouri Abortion Numbers One-Half by the End 0f 2016.

On July 16,2011, the Missouri State Council Knights of Columbus announced the establishment of their "Meet Life" campaign. The goal of the campaign is to reduce the number of abortions performed in the State of Missouri by 50% by the end of the year 2016. This campaign will be a coordinated effort led by the Knights of Columbus and will include Vitae Foundation, In His Image Ultrasound, and local pregnancy resource centers.

The "Meet Life" campaign is an outgrowth of the Knights of Columbus Supreme Council's Ultrasound Initiative, which provides matching funds to local Councils to enable them to purchase state of the art ultrasound machines for Pregnancy Resource Centers. The Meet Life Campaign shall follow all guidelines established by the Supreme Council, while fulfilling its intention of providing a free ultrasound screening to all abortion minded women.

Steps to Accomplish the Goal:

  • Place an ultrasound machine in every pregnancy resource center in the state that can meet the criteria for such placement.
  • Create a marketing plan that brings abortion minded women to the pregnancy resource centers.
  • Utilize the resources available to assist the pregnancy resource centers in their staff development.
  • Determine areas in the state of Missouri that are under served or not served by pregnancy resource centers.
  • Create a plan to meet those needs.
  • Raise $2,000,000 and supplement that through local giving and matching funds.
  • Work with the Councils and Auxiliaries to create long lasting relationships with their local pregnancy resource centers.
  • Create a 10-year/ongoing plan to further eliminate abortion in the state of Missouri.

So, how are we progressing towards this amazing goal?

The mission of the "Meet Life" campaign is to reduce abortions in Missouri through the placement of ultrasound technology in local Pregnancy Centers along with mass media advertising to direct women to those centers. These efforts would provide opportunities for mothers experiencing unplanned pregnancies to bond with their unborn babies and encourage them to carry their babies to term.

Missouri Knights of Columbus
“MEET LIFE” Baby Bottle Campaign

We can make a difference with your help!

The Missouri Knights of Columbus have always been leaders in respecting the lives of the unborn. We have done a lot of good things in these past two years and now we are going to help you with a new program.

First, we need every Council and Auxiliary to join us on this “MEET LIFE” Baby Bottle Campaign.

Second, we need every Council and Auxiliary to consider how many baby bottles they need.

Third, the “MEET LIFE” Baby Bottle Campaign will unify our efforts in the State of Missouri to help finance the Ultrasound Initiative.

Fourth, the “MEET LIFE” Baby Bottle Campaign will urge councils and parishes to participate possible with the schools and PSR.

Fifth, the cost of purchasing the bottles can be taken off the monies you collect. You can also let other council or organizations use them with an agreement that if they do not return the same amount of bottles as given the cost per bottle would be $ .92 per bottle.

Sixth, please pray three Hail Mary’s at the end of every meeting and function, to end abortions. With your help we can save thousands of baby’s lives.

Meet Life Baby Bottle Campaign - How it Works

Now that you have decided to participate in the Meet Life Baby Bottle Campaign you may have some questions regarding the best way to roll out this fundraiser. Please consider the following suggestions.

-          Obtain permission from your Pastor to make a presentation at the end of each Mass on the weekend you and your Pastor decide upon.

-          Enlist several Knights to present and hand out bottles on that weekend.

-          Prepare your presentation. Depending on how much time your Pastor has allowed you, we recommend that you show all or part of the Meet Life video premiered at the state convention. If you do not have a copy of this video, contact us and we will gladly send a copy to you. If you are not able to show the video we recommend that you use the Meet Life tri-fold or flier, handing them out or placing them at the end of each pew so that it can be viewed during your presentation.

-          Make your presentation

-          3 weeks later, collect the bottles

-          After this time, ask that reminders be made during the announcements for several weeks, asking people to bring their bottles in.

Sample presentation:
Good morning/evening, my name is _____________ and I represent the Knights of Columbus. Today, we have some very exciting news to share with you! The Missouri Knights of Columbus have launched a campaign that will effect serous change on the culture of death in our state. It is called the Meet Life Campaign. Although the plan is quite complex, the goal is simple, by the end of 2016 the number of abortions will be cut in half in our state! Yes, you heard me right . . . . . half the number of abortions. Currently in Missouri, about 10,000 innocent babies die each year from abortion. With the Meet Life Campaign, by year 2016, 5,000 of these will be saved that year and each year forward.

Part of the plan is to place 50 state of the art ultrasound machines at approved pregnancy centers across the state and provide the necessary training for each center. You have probably heard of the use of ultrasound to save babies from abortion. The statistics are amazing. 92% of the time, when an abortion minded woman meets her baby on the ultrasound screen, sees his little fingers and toes, hears his heartbeat . . . . . . she chooses life for her baby. 92% . . . . . . that is a God size number, that is a miracle.

We would like to ask you to join us today, to help us meet the goals of the Meet Life Campaign. When you leave today, you will be handed one of these (hold up bottle). We ask that you place this bottle in a prominent place in your home and each time you see it, we ask that you pray for the unborn, pray for the success of this campaign. Also, each time you see the bottle, we ask that you place your pocket change or pocket book change in it . . . . . . and by the way, I checked . . . . . bills and checks fit in these things too. In three weeks (give date) we ask that you bring your filled bottle back to Mass with you and we will collect them at the back of church.

(Hold up bottle again . . . pause) Dear friends, today, each and every one of us has the opportunity to save a life! Please join us.

Thank you so much for your support.

We also think some parishes may want to involve the Pro-Life Committee, School Children, and PSR.

This Campaign will be an ongoing campaign to put a STOP to Abortion.

Thanks to Joe Dalton for his input.

Roses for Life

The symbol of Life - The Rose!

By distributing Roses and collecting signatures & donations, the Missouri Knights show their strong Pro-Life committment.  The signatures are sent to the local/state/US legislators to remind them to stay (or convert to) pro-life.  The program is held in January of each year, usually on the Sunday nearest the Jan 23 Roe-V-Wade decision.

Order for the roses should be given to your District Deputy by September 15. The costs of the roses is $15.00 per 100, and be sure to mark them with or without the KofC logo.  Some churches order the roses but do not want the K of C logo on them and we will accommodate them.  Checks must be made out to Missouri State Council Knights of Columbus and attached with the order.  These roses will be available for your District Deputy at the December meeting.

ROSES FOR LIFE WEEKEND January 5-6, 2013 Pulpit Announcement
PLEASE ASK PERMISSION TO READ AT ALL MASSES

<Place roses and writing instruments at the ends of each pew before mass.>

Knight of Columbus Councils across Missouri ask you to let our Government Representatives know of our support for the Pro-Life struggle. We ask you to do this by signing the Roses for Life you'll find in your pews. Over 100,000 Roses will be collected by Knights of Columbus Councils in Missouri this weekend.
Our Council will send your signed Roses to our elected Representative<you can name them here if you want> SO they'll remember the voters in their district plus the millions of Pro-Life Supporters and voters across our state and nation.
The Roses will be sent to arrive around Jan.22nd, the Fortieth Anniversary of the 1973 date the United States Supreme Court legalized abortion for any reason. Legalized abortion-although declining in Missouri because of the efforts of the Knights of Columbus, The Vitae Foundation, and people like you-kills over 4000 unborn children every day, Concerned Catholics and Pro-Life Supporters can and already do much to save the unborn from a horrible death by abortion. Along with signing your Roses, we also ask for a donation to cover the cost of the Roses and postage.

<Arrange for the ushers to pass the collection plate at church.>

Any extra money collected will help our Knights of Columbus Meet Life Campaign.
We also ask you to pray the Rosary to end abortion and to give your moral support to those people going to the March for Life in D.C. and Jefferson City this month.
Thank You, _______ , Knights of Columbus Council, _____

Vitae

Vitae Caring Foundation

Life, the Right to be born and live, has become a matter of debate in our society. Legal abortion has demoralized our society. Life itself has become a commodity. We watch in horror as our moral and spiritual values are trampled by disrespect and violence, a reflection of a society that allows mothers to kill their own unborn children.

With the support of all the Councils, Vitae Caring Foundation is using the mass media to educate the public. We are extremely proud that research shows our efforts are having a substantial impact in reducing the number of abortions in Missouri. Councils should have fund raisers to support their efforts in supporting life as God meant it to be.
